Jim Johnson Hired By Sharks

The San Jose Sharks have announced the hiring of Jim Johnson as an assistant coach under Todd McClellan for the upcoming season.  Johnson joins Larry Robinson as new members of the Sharks’ coaching staff after a disappointing early postseason exit for San Jose last season.  Johnson is expected to work with the team’s defensemen and on the Sharks’ penalty kill.  Johnson was hired by Dale Hunter in November to replace Bob Woods as assistant coach.  A former NHL defenseman, Johnson also played 121 of his 829 career NHL games with the Capitals between 1993 and 1996, all as Dale Hunter’s teammate.

Always a class act and a good quote, Johnson also had a positive impact on the Capitals’ defense and penalty kill.  Best of luck, Jim, we’ll miss you.
