It’s been a busy off season so far for the Washington Capitals, so we wanted to take time to recap the crews’ adventures so far this summer. Enjoy!
Matt Hendricks – Signed up to play a hockey game for Defending the Blue Line. What looks like a friendly game on the outside, may infact be a mission to tell Zach Parise the wonders of the DC area.
John Erskine – Went to Disney World with his family. Asked Mickey Mouse about breaking his stick in Fantasia.
John Carlson – Attended a D.C. United game with a few other members of the Caps roster, but arrived late. We think it’s because Perreault kept asking directions to the Football stadium.
Alex Semin – Won Gold at the IIHF World Championships for the Russian National team, and promptly bashed himself over the head with it. Like we do whenever he takes an offensive zone penalty.
Jason Chimera – Threw out the opening pitch at a Washington Nationals game. Although wasn’t offered a chance to play, we’re sure he’d have more hits than Danny Espinosa.
Tomas Vokoun – Held interviews to tell reporters he’s interested in playing in the NHL. Or the KHL. But mostly the NHL. But definitely not with the Capitals.
Alex Ovechkin – Travelled to Paris following Worlds to cheer on his girlfriend at tennis practice. Was able to confirm Cristobal Huet is still an overpaid French minor leaguer.
Karl Alzner – Became a “dog whisperer” and worked to better his dog’s behavior. I mean… look how refined and formal they are now.
Michal Neuvirth- Headed on vacation to Montego Bay to recoup from the strain of excessive twittering.
Braden Holtby – Along with Joel Ward, hosted a Hockey School at Ronald Brown Middle School in Washington DC. Too soon to say if he was scouting the campus for his newborn son.
DJ King – Rooting for his brother while watching the Kings’ Stanley Cup final run. Guess the guy wanted to see at least a few NHL games this season.
Brooks Laich – Attending a meet and greet autograph session in Dulles, VA. Rumours abound that you get a free tire rotation with each ticket purchase.
