A fire has been reported at the historic Hersheypark Arena in Hershey, PA. The four-alarm fire was first reported by Pennlive.com around 1:30pm on July 5th with multiple sources indicating the fire originated in the arena’s overhead lights. Crews have been seen hosing down the roof of the 75-year old arena and additional reports have fire personnel scaling the interior stairs to reach the catwalks above the ice surface.
Hersheypark Arena was home to the AHL’s Hershey Bears until they moved into the Giant Center in 2002. The Arena is currently used for local youth hockey, public skating and is home to Lebanon Valley College’s hockey team. The Bears occasionally hold practice at the arena when the Giant Center is in use.
