Notes:  For the Caps, Mathieu Perreault recorded his first career hat trick, Roman Hamrlik had 2 assists, and Dennis Wideman scored an empty-net goal.  Patrice Bergeron and Dennis Seidenberg each had 2 assists for Boston.  Caps winger Jason Chimera and Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid were given coincidental roughing minors in the second period. Zdeno Chara also received a roughing penalty on the same play to give the Caps their only power play of the game.
