As the Washington Capitals’ post season hopes ceased Saturday night with a loss in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals at the hands of the New York Rangers, many fans looked back on the 2011-12 NHL season with frustration. We here at Rock the Red want to celebrate the successes and unheralded efforts throughout the Caps’ past year, and will be presenting several awards – some existing within the league, but most not – to the players that excelled in each category. We will be honoring a trophy, it’s nominees and the winner once daily, so be sure to check back in and share your thoughts on the trophy in our comments section.
To start our 2011 – 12 Capitals Awards Ceremony, the bloggers of Rock the Red would like to acknowledge the following award recipients which are not up for debate due to tangible results throughout the season [Ed. Note: I know, not as fun… but trust us when we tell you that it will make the other ones so much better]. Please make the jump to see which of our Caps is walking away with more hardware from our current cavalcade of accolades!
