The Washington Capitals were on ice Friday afternoon at Rogers Arena in Vancouver as they prepare to take on the Canucks in that same space Saturday night. Some updates from far out west:
Mike Green missed his fifth consecutive practice with his right ankle issue; he is not expected to play tomorrow night and has not been able to skate comfortably since sustaining the injury. GM George McPhee does not think that Green’s injury is a long-term issue at this point. Bruce Boudreau added that he hopes to have the defenseman back next weekend.
Jeff Halpern took a maintenance day off, with DJ King taking his spot on the fourth line. The other three lines remained the same as they have been for the last two weeks: Ovechkin-Backstrom-Brouwer, Semin-Johansson-Knuble, and Ward-Laich-Chimera.
That’s all for now.
