Washington Capitals ‘Movember’ Preview

For the month of November, several members of the Washington Capitals are participating in a great cause: Movember. For those who don’t know, Movember is a month-long mustache growing event aimed towards raising funds and awareness of cancers that affect men. So far, the Caps team consists of Brett Leonhardt, Jason Chimera, Jeff Schultz, John Carlson, John Erskine, Karl Alzner, Matt Hendricks and Caps Alum Yvon Labre. Although it’s not yet November, the team has already raised over $2800!

For those who are considering making a donation towards a player’s ‘stache, the difficult part of Movember is picking the BEST ‘stache. You can either scour the internet, looking for pictures of the players’ densest playoff beards or…

You can travel into the future in the Rock the DeLorean and take a look at some members of Team ‘Stache.

First up is John Carlson, most certainly the underdog of the internal competition. We’re not predicting much from Captain America for the month of November… maybe one of those thin, patchy things you see on a highschool freshman.

More, after we add some gigawatts to the Flux Capacitor.

Next up is Mr. Nasty, Jeff Schultz. Living up to his reputation as a despicable scoundrel, we’re predicting something similar to the ‘stache worn by Eli Wallach in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Except with curly ends. And we’re betting he’ll wax it… the scoundrel.

Easily the odds-on favorite of this competition, Karl Alzner already has a reputation for growing one hell of a playoff beard. He’s very modest about his ‘Muzzy’, but we think it’ll fill in nicely. I mean, he’s just so darn Canadian.

Finally, while we don’t think he’ll take the Movember crown, special recognition needs to go to Jason Chimera for duping us all. I never believed that ‘going bald’ bit, not for a second.

If you have a few extra dollars, head over to the Caps Movember team page and make a donation. It’s for a good cause and it should make for quite the entertaining month of November.
