Despite finding themselves facing a 2-0 deficit, the Texas Stars rallied with 4 unanswered goals to beat the Hamilton Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum in Game 7 of the AHL’s Western Conference finals. The Calder Cup finals look to be a promising match up as it pits Hershey (60-17-0-3, 123 points), the AHL regular seasons’ best team, against a Texas squad (46-27-3-4, 99 points) that finished in second place in the West Division. The best-of-seven series will feature a 2-3-2 format, and is scheduled to start June 3 at Giant Center - a delay discussed yesterday, caused by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus performing from May 26th through the 31st.
Although John Carlson is upset he wont be able to exact revenge for the Washington Capitals’ first round exit by taking on the Montreal Canadiens AHL affiliate, as he expressed yesterday during a phone interview with LaVar Arrington and Chad Dukes, he will be able to start a new rivalry in a team that Hershey never faced in the regular season.
