Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals take on the Boston Bruins at the Verizon Center in the final meeting between the teams and the final REGULAR season game at the Phone Booth. The Bruins clinched their playoff berth with a shootout win over the Hurricanes of Carolina in a Saturday matinee game. The Capitals have owned the B-Ruins since the played them in the first game of the 2009-2010 season and it seems only fitting that they go for the sweep in the last game of the regular season.
The prodigal handsome son returns: Good news for the ladies annnnd gents with bro-crushes, Mr. I’m so good looking himself, Brooks Laich has ditched the cage for your viewing pleasure.
The Russian Rocket: The Great 8’s 2 goals and assist against the Thrashers Friday night put him in the lead for the Rocket Richard and quite possibly the Hart. With this the last game and Crosby still win two, expect Ovi to try his best to increase his lead and solidify third set of personal awards.
Holy Nicklas Backstrom, the future 6 Million dollar man, es muy caliente con 9 points in 3 games. I am without words, hence the Spanglish. While Nicky hasn’t faired well agains the Bruins this year, (only 1 goal) expect a few helpers. On the other hand Grandpa Knuble has notched two goals, Ovi has three and the resent man out of the iron mask, Mr. Handsome himself has 4 goals in the three meetings.
Jose Shut-the-Door owns the B-Ruins this year, but with the playoffs right around the corner, Semyon Varlamov will get the start. On a high note, Tyler Sloan is out with an upper body injury so expect a better defensive effort with TSlo out. The PK has been stout against the B’s only allowing 1 goal on 14 man down stints. The powerplay against the Bruins sits at a dead 30% (3 for 10). Surprisingly the shots on goal for both teams are almost equal with the Bruins having 2 more shots than the Caps (92-90).
