Jose Theodore and Saves for Kids

In today’s Washington Post, Tarik El-Bashir was finally able to share the story of Washington Capitals goaltender Jose Theodore and his life since August, when he lost his infant son Chace who died in August from respiratory complications related to a premature birth. While we at Rock The Red do not have children, we have all lost someone close to us – and cannot even begin to imagine the intensity Jose felt, and continues to feel, while under the pressure of playing professional hockey. We fully support his creation of the Saves For Kids program, to which Theodore will donate $2 for each save, $100 for every win and $500 for each shutout to benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s National Medical Center.

We wish to support Theo in his cause, and are donating all profits from our store from now until the Capitals play their final seconds of hockey this season. So whether you’re interested in being Ovechkin’s homeboy, partying with Poti, getting free burritos, or inquiring about the powers behind Langway’s moustache- or any of the other shirts we offer – you will be supporting Jose Theodore and Children’s National Medical Center. We realize that this won’t amount to much, but every penny counts when you’re dealing with something of this importance.

If you are interested in making your own donation, send a check made payable to Washington Capitals Charities, earmarked for Saves for Kids, to:
