2010 Preseason Game 3: Capitals vs. Bruins Preview

Washington Capitals (2-0-0) vs. Boston Bruins (1-1-1)
Verizon Center, 7:00 PM ET

The Washington Capitals will face off against the Boston Bruins tonight at 7pm at Verizon Center for their first home preseason game.  There has been no word on plans for a radio broadcast from the Capitals side, but Boston's WBZ 98.5 FM, The Sports Hub, will be broadcasting the game.  If you're not Rocking the Red at Verizon tonight (or in Boston near a radio), you can listen online here.

Per Katie Carrera of the Washington Post, the Capitals lineup will be:

Forwards:
Ovechkin-Perreault-Knuble
Laich-Johansson-Semin
Chimera-Eakin- Bradley
King-Steckel-B. Gordon

Defense:
Alzner, Carlson, Green, Nycholat, Poti, Sloan

Goal:
Varlamov, Sabourin

Semyon Varlamov is expected to play the entire game.  With heir presumptive to the #2 center slot Tomas Fleischmann ailing and #1 center Nicklas Backstrom sitting out tonight, look for Marcus Johansson and Mathieu Perreault to try to stake their claims on the center-ice positions.  Also look for Lawrence Nycholat to cement himself as a prime call-up option from Hershey.

The Bruins, who learned they may be without star center Marc Savard for some time with post-concussion syndrome, will ice the following lineup, courtesy of CBS Radio:

Forwards: Gregory Campbell, Joe Colborne, Zach Hamill, Jeff LoVecchio, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille, Jeremy Reich, Michael Ryder, Wyatt Smith, Shawn Thornton, Blake Wheeler

Defensemen: Matt Bartkowski, Johnny Boychuk, Matt Hunwick, Steven Kampfer, Adam McQuaid, Mark Stuart

Goal: Tuukka Rask, Nolan Schaefer

And if we're lucky, we might even see D.J. King go toe-to-toe with Milan Lucic tonight in a heavyweight bout.
